Wild n Wacky mufti
  • This Thursday 2nd November is our mufti day- Wild n Wacky.  Please send your child to school in a wacky outfit.
  • It’s a great to be creative with different hairstyles, wearing odd shoes, putting clothes on backwards etc.  
  • Please bring a gold coin donation for Kids Can.
Up coming Event - Athletics day
  • The Junior School Athletics Day is on Tuesday 21st November - more information about this event will be coming out soon.
  • Y3 students who are over 8 years old on November 1st are participating in athletics training for Inter-school Athletics with the senior school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; Students will need a change of clothes although sports shoes are optional.  
  • Classes will also do athletics with all of the class on Wednesday afternoons. All students will require sports clothes (t-shirt and shorts) on that day as well.
Reading
Book Amnesty
  • Please could all reading books be returned to school every day.
  • If you have any reading books hiding at home from previous weeks, please could they come back too!
  • There will be a stock take for books will be happening later on this term.
  • Thank you in advance for your help with this
Hats
  • In Term 4, school hats are a compulsory part of the school uniform.
  • All children will be expected to wear a school hat when playing outside for protection against the sun.
  • From last week, if children don't have their hat, they will have to stay under the veranda at playtime and lunchtime.
  • Another good idea is to apply sunscreen in the mornings for extra protection.
  • PLEASE NAME YOUR CHILD’S HAT
3pm hometime
  • For the safety of the children, we ask that all children in Y0-2 are collected by a parent/family member or sibling from the classroom.
  • Please contact the school office if someone else other than you will be collecting your child, the office will then inform the class teacher
Request for help with transport
  • We have a family who have moved to Sidey Ave in Clover Park and they would like their son to continue to come to Howick Primary.
  • For various reasons it is a struggle at the moment to get their son to school on time.
  • If you live nearby and would be willing to help out with transport to school, could you please contact Judy Coker j.coker@howickprimary.school.nz and she will pass on your details to the family.
litterless lunches
  • One way to help us reduce litter at school is for each child to try and have a litterless lunch.
  • Please take items out of their packets at home and put only food in lunchboxes.
  • Reusable containers are great for keeping the food fresh.
Ice blocks
  • Ice blocks start again this term on Fridays
  • Children who would like an ice block at lunchtime need to bring in $1 and give it to their teacher on a Friday morning
Assembly
  • Don’t forget that it’s whole school assembly at 2.00 on every second Thursday afternoon. We would love for you to come along and celebrate with us
  • The next assembly is on 9th November

Treemendous project
  • Thank you for your support so far.  We still need the following support :
  • People to plant - anybody can do this on the day. You will be shown how to plant.
  • More builders to build a small structure.
  • People to help paint. You will be shown how to do this on the day.
  • Diggers to use for a day.
  • 15 old pipes.
  • An old wooden boat.
  • boulders.
  • We would appreciate support from anybody in the community. Any offers for other support that is not listed above is more than welcome.
Athletics

Term 4 Welcome Back!

Kia ora everyone! Welcome back to Term 4 in the Junior Team. Please make a note of the important dates and events coming up this week.

Welcome
  • A very warm welcome to our new families who are starting with us in Term 4.  It is great to have you join our Howick Primary School family.  
Botanical Gardens trip
  • Please return your child’s permission slip as soon as possible to the teacher
  • If you are able to assist us on the trip, please speak your child’s teacher
Ice blocks
  • Ice blocks on Friday starts this week.
  • Children who would like an ice block at lunchtime need to bring in $1 and give it to their teacher.
